Political Gateway
One of the US Senate's most conservative members, Pennsylvania Republican Rick Santorum wrote in an opinion piece Wednesday in the Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper that allowing the deal to go forward without further scrutiny runs contrary to the rigorous counter-terrorism efforts of the past four years.

"Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the primary focus of our government has been the protection of the American people and our homeland, as it should be.

"It is exceedingly irresponsible to allow a nation that has long been influenced by the Islamic fascist movement to oversee and direct the operations at these six ports.

"Outsourcing control of these ports to a Dubai-based company is a gamble," he wrote. "The President should be taking a long, hard look at the implications of this sale."
