When the Votes Count

In case you missed it, the Senate cut about $40 billion in spending today thanks to a tie-breaking vote by Vice President Cheney.

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but Rick voted with us (again) on this one. Here's the roll call from the vote on the spending cuts. Note the "None." where they would normally list "Democrats who voted for the spending cuts." Not a Donk to be found--not conservative Ken Salazar (D-CO), not conservative Ben Nelson (D-NE), and not conservative Mark Pryor (D-AR). Rest assured that not-conservative Bobby Casey would be in that same company if he had Rick's seat.

All of these Democrats have been hailed at one time or another as being "mavericks" or "New Democrats" or "independent". Guess what. When it comes down to it, they toe the line just like the rest of their caucus. Count on Bobby Casey to do the same.
